CEO’s Message

The Saul & Claribel Simkin Centre originated in 1915 as The Winnipeg Old Folks Jewish Home with 5 Residents in a rented duplex in the north end of Winnipeg.  Since those early beginnings, there have been many significant changes.  However, as always, we remain focused on the Jewish value of caring for our elders.

We are blessed to have a compassionate and caring staff, a committed leadership team, and dedicated volunteers that serve in many ways, including as members of our Board.  Together, with the support of the community, we live our values of Respect for all people (Derech eretz), Honour due each person (Kavod), caring (Chesed), trust (Emunah), and communal responsibility (Kol Yisrael Avrivim Aeh La-Zeh).

We are also grateful for the very supportive and generous community that surrounds us.

Our goal is to provide a home where Residents receive excellent care, enjoy delicious meals, have fun and meaningful activities to participate in, have their spiritual needs met, and that family and friends of all ages feel welcomed and want to visit.

I want everyone who lives at, visits or work at the Simkin Centre to feel and sense that this is a place of joy.

I welcome any suggestions or feedback that you would like to give.

Sincerely,
