Congratulations to Simkin Centre Staff, Anthony Santos

002Congratulations to Anthony Santos on winning a $50 gift certificate after completing a survey for the University of Manitoba Research Study on Vitamin D.

On April 30, 2014, the University of Manitoba was at the Simkin Centre to conduct a survey to examine the opinions of people regarding Vitamin D supplementation.  We were one of five LTC facilities they visited.  These self-administered surveys consisted of 12 questions and only took about five minutes to complete.  A researcher set up a booth in the Atrium for the whole day.

After the surveys were complete, participants were entered into a draw for one of five $50 gift certificates per site for a local grocery store.

Celebrating Nursing – Nursing Week

Nurses at the Saul & Claribel Simkin Centre were invited to participate in a video done by the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority to celebrate the diverse roles of nursing within the Region.  The video captures the work of nursing in various settings.  It demonstrates the tools they use in the course of their work and shows the unseen moments of nurses touching the lives of those they service.  If you are interested in seeing the video, please go to the following link:  http://www.wrha.mb.ca/features/nursing/

We celebrate the role of our nurses in meeting the needs of the residents at The Saul & Claribel Simkin Centre.
