Residents Create Art

“Shake It Up Creative Arts Group” came to the Simkin Centre last Wednesday. Janice Horn, founder, has created this made-in-Manitoba, one-of-a kind art class that is changing the lives of individuals who have been diagnosed with primary Parkinson’s disease. Janice will be engaging with a select group of residents at the Simkin Centre every third Wednesday.

Art therapy is a form of expressive therapy that uses the creative process of making art to improve a person’s physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

The creative process involved in expressing one’s self artistically can help people manage their behaviors and feelings, reduce stress, and improve self-esteem and awareness.

Here are a few examples of the art our residents created.
