 Laurie Cerqueti Named CEO of the Saul & Claribel Simkin Centre Personal Care Home Inc.

Selma Gilfix, Chair of the Board of Directors of the Saul & Claribel Simkin Centre, is pleased to announce that Laurie Cerqueti has been selected as the Centre’s new Chief Executive Officer.  Irwin Corobow will be leaving the position on January 11, 2019.

Laurie comes to us from Meadowood  Manor as their CEO.  She was responsible for overseeing all administrative functions, budgets, business-planning and care and service delivery.  Under her leadership they experienced 7 consecutive years of a budget surplus, significant reduction in WCB costs, and excellent scores at the last 3 Manitoba Health Standards reviews.

After completing her Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Winnipeg, she proudly embarked on her healthcare career with a Nursing Diploma from the Misericordia School of Nursing.  She subsequently completed a Bachelor of Nursing Degree at the University of Manitoba and achieved a Master’s of Science in Administration from Central Michigan University.

Over the course of her professional career she has gained valuable experience as a bedside nurse, a manager and as the leader of an organization.  She is committed to lifelong learning and regularly attends conferences and workshops on a variety of topics.  This allows her to keep abreast of current trends and developments in healthcare in order to assist in strategically positioning the organization.

Her personal and professional beliefs and actions are a good fit for the Simkin Centre’s Mission, Vision and Philosophy.  Laurie’s grandmother was a resident at the Simkin Centre.  She is married and has three children.  The entire family is well acquainted with the Simkin Centre.

Laurie is excited to start her new position here and we are very excited to welcome her.  She will start officially on January 14, 2019.
